Invitation for Amedikallu Trek on Feb 21 - 22 {CTC-B}

For all the people who cant make it to the wayanad trek here comes an
oppurtunity for an intresting trek

Objective: To climb Amedikallu peak near Shishila village,
Dharmasthala. Climb down next day.

Terrain: Thich Forest, Open grasland (hot), then ultra-thick bushes
while climbing the last stretch,

Difficulty: Moderate to difficult.

Duration – Friday Feb 20th late evening to monday morning Feb 23
(bangalore to bangalore)
Distance - 400 km from bangalore.
Trekking: 7-9 hours of climb up.

Transportation – public transportation
Expense - Aprox Rs 1300 (transportation ex bangalore 700 + local
transport + food + guide charges)
Advance – to be paid when joining – 1300Rs (difference will be settled
later on)
Last Date for Registration – Not fixed but we need to book tickets
before they run out.
Last Date for transfer of money : 17th Feb

Agenda: Assemble at KSRTC bus stand, bangalore on friday 20 th Feb by
8 pm, leave for dharmsthala, take local transport to shishila
village, have breakfast at local contact's house, take guide, and
start trekking.

Reach the peak by evening, watch the magnificent sunset, camp there,
campfire, dinner.

Next day, get up for sunrise, climb down till the water stream,
breakfast.

Depending on when we reach base and how much time we have, we will try
to visit kapila river. (I dont think it is prudent to post since
people will be expecting the river and we are not able to make it on
time, they will be dissapointed.)

Reach the Shishila village, freshen up, lunch, and then leave for
dharmasthala where from we have to take bus back to bangalore.

for chennai people: I saw that there are buses directly to
dharmasthala which start around afternoon and reach dharmasthala by 5
a.m. next day. People from chennai can take these busses (though there
are only 5 seats left in KSRTC, need to check other services).

MUST CARRY LUGGAGE:
All participants must carry following items:
Good walking shoes/boots
Carry at least 4lts of water (no water at the peak, 1 L for last
stretch of climbing, 1 L for dinner, 1 for next morning climb down)
Back-pack to carry luggage, food, water
Sun cap and sunscreen (we will do a lot of sun grazing)
Food will be taken care by organizers
Sleeping Bag is a must, it will be very cold at high Altitudes in
Western Ghats
VERY IMPORTANT: travel lightweight to make it easier

One more update: Those who want to join directly from Dharmasthala on morning of 21 Feb and manage his/her own to-fro transport, needs to pay only Rs 600.

Day 1, we will trek to Amedikallu as decided.

Here is a little more concrete plan for day 2. Depending when we reach Shishila village, we will either:
1. VIsit Shishileswara Temple adjoining Kapila river with lots and lots of fishes around.
2. Trek to Budha's point which is an old cave with Budha's statue inside.
3. OR do both.
