We (Platform45) would love to have an exceptional designer in-house.

For me a designer should be able to conceptualize the interface,
understand the user experience as well as design the final front-end.

At Platform45 we build web applications.

I need someone who can mockup an interface.
Explain to me why this interface is optimal for the target users.
Create the graphics needed to enhance the experience.
Create the CSS/HTML for a working front-end.

We are very strong at programming and need someone to be our "creative
director"

You can find my contact details on www . platform45 . com
(I apologize for the design - we are programmers trying our best to
design - this is why we need you)

Oh and I forgot to mention you won't be doing any pesky client work.
Whatever ideas you have, we'll build. You will only answer to yourself
and the rest of the team. (this means you need to be self-motivated
and self-managing)

Hi Neil,

Your website looks nice. Can't you get the same person to do your
interface mockups?

My reply was more of an unhelpful compliment, poorly executed.

I still think their website looks nice.

Thanks for the compliment Nick.

Good UX design just comes through experience and learning. I think
more importantly are the personal traits that make up a designer.
Questioning the way things are, problem solving abilities, seeking
constant improvement...

Just out of interest what do you think are the top local web
applications (in terms of design & usability) ?
