Hi Cape Town UX folk,

What would you like to see from the next SA UX Cape Town meetup?

Some initial ideas around a theme:
  • Anyone can stand-up and give an example of Bad Usability.  The Crowd offers potential solutions. (Focusing on outcomes rather than criticisms)
  • The Science of UX: We get a few people to talk about some of the more 'scientific' or  'academic' aspects of UX and User Interface design. (Got a talk you can offer here?)
  • Tools for User Testing: Someone gives a demo of Screen-casting software they like. (Any hardcore Silverback / CamStudio / etc fans here?)
  • [Your idea here]

Discuss.  :)

Cheers,
Shaun

iPad and what influence it will have on the netbook / e-reader market?

Hi.

I've been discussing a little something with Jason and we might have
some interesting things to do in late Feb.

Jason might be able to come give a talk and there's also a VIP Design
Thinker coming down from Europe then, who I am trying to persuade.

Could be interesting?

Anyone with an evaluation model here?  Are you offering a talk Nick? :P

As with the GeekDinners: end of the month (after we've all been paid) or early March. End of Feb looks good and gives us enough time to organise.  This ties in well with Jason's movements as Phil suggests.
How does Thursday the 25th of Feb sound?  Or Tuesday the 2nd of March?

Sounds great Phil!  Out-of-town talent like we had previously (Anthony from ribot.co.uk) will always be good to listen to :)

As for venues:
I really liked Limoncello's upstairs area as the model for our venue, so I'm thinking we need to look for something similar.  A space to ourselves, big enough for 50-60 people, with a decent menu (R120 pp, excl. drinks). A Projector and screen. Optional AV equipment.

If we limit the talks to 10-15 minutes and keep the floor open, I think we'll have an engaging and energetic evening.

Thoughts?
Shaun

I've got a talk about empathy / empathic design which I've been
contemplating as a topic for SAUX - but let's see how things pan out
with the celebrity and Jason - I can roll over till next meet.
