BREAKING NEWS: African Skimmer at Mkhombo Dam

Etienne Marais is at Mkhombo Dam in Mpumalanga (about 100km north-east of Pretoria) and reports that there is an AFRICAN SKIMMER flying up and down the shoreline this morning!

 

To add to this he reports that there is at least one PECTORAL SANDPIPER still present, a couple of YELLOW WAGTAILS, a WESTERN OSPREY, and CORNCRAKE and RIVER WARBLER! That is some combination, so Mkhombo Dam is the place to be at the moment…

 

For those of you waiting for news of the MADAGASCAR CUCKOO in Kruger, there have been no further reports this morning, but there are a number of birders in the area at the moment so that may change.
