A number of people, especially those coming from up north over the weekend, have asked for more detailed directions to get to Soetwater Resort. I’m going to assume that you all know which road the M3 is (the one that travels from Cape Town past UCT and on towards Tokai). Travel all the way south to the end of the M3 and then, turn right onto Steenberg Road/M42. Continue through the first set of lights and just before the second set, take the left turn off on to Ou Kaapse Weg. Follow this road over the mountain and down into the Noordhoek Valley. Once in the valley, travel to the second set of lights and then turn right onto Kommetjie Road. Follow this road for about 5km or so and, just after the village on your left called Ocean View, turn left onto Slangkop Road/M65 (there is a signboard there indicating that you are en route to Cape Point as well). Follow this road until you reach an intersection, cross straight over that intersection and carry on straight and eventually, you will reach the gates to Slangkop Resort.

Once through the gates of the resort, continue along the road beyond the first major parking area and the second one which has some buildings at it and take the third turning to your left (roughly at 34 deg 09’ 41” S 18 deg 19’ 53” E) and head down to the parking area. From the parking area, walk over the low grassed dune in front of you towards the sea and then you should see the area that has been cordoned off with the penguin inside it.

Please also note that there is an entrance fee to the resort of R11.00 per person.

Kind regards
Trevor
