Hi Folks,
Here is an excellent article by Dr. Rajat. Can't agree with him
more on this one. Its time Chennai marathon and other 'Athletic'
associations and organizations realize what they are doing :) - Maybe
we should do a protest run at these races which seem to think its too
'tough' for women.
Quoting from the article "But does more muscle make a man stronger?
Ever heard of male pain vs female pain? Male pain refers to people
moaning and groaning over minor discomforts, non-issues. Female pain
refers to real pain, since women have to go through labour pain, the
mother of all pains! If men were the ones in charge of reproduction,
we would not have got beyond Adam and Eve."

Quoting from another article - "Changing tradition and social
customs takes time. Only recently (since the '70s) have some young
girls developed with as much physical activity as their boy
counterparts. And this is still not the norm. Girls are just now
beginning to be trained as hard as boys. Once that happened, their
performances improved dramatically and should continue to do so."
It could be that its more of a social conditioning rather than
innate or genetic reasons that you see more men finishing faster or
even participating than women. The gap might be closed very soon. Here
is more on that -
