I'm looking at creating an application utilizing ROR and the Google Maps API. I came across this book "Beginning Google Maps Applications with Rails and Ajax: From Novice to Professional". Would this title be to far out of date to even be useful?

The authors have a blog about the book and how useful it is with
Google maps API v3
under the title:
Two Years and Counting. Is Our Book Still Useful? ^^

You could still develop for API v2 - just the api won't be updated (if
you do have a look at YM4R_GM and YM4R_Mapstraction)
