Blog (Typo) integration with other websites

Dear all,
After some thought regarding the common problem of developing my own
blog engine or use one the the existing alternatives, I decided in
favor of Typo. Then, instead of integrating it into my Rails app, I
decided to deploy 2 separate applications (distinct sub domains). The
problem now is:
What is the best approach to obtain the list of the latest posts made
to the blog from within the other rails app?

RSS feeds are one, albeit slow and annoying, way to do this.
There are several gems that will make this easier.
