Hey guys,

Seems to be a very large discrepancy of people who are members of this
group and not members of the #ruby.ie IRC channel. Whats the story
with that?

What server is it on?  Or is it hosted by  that little gem of a boutique, located in
Tralee, Co. Kerry (www.ruby.ie)? :)

I don't like chats (!).

But anyway, seems to be a very large discrepancy of people who are
members of this group and the number of incoming coding brunches (0).
What's the story with that? ;-)

Hi guys,

the group is convenient. You get your mails and read them at your own pace. There are not that many technical questions but more links and stuff, so no much dialog needed.
Also some people sign up for the group just to keep informed. I work with ruby now, but only for the last few months, been in the group for much longer.

So the group is a repository of good info and it's always available and accessible from other places than Dublin city center, unlike the meetings.

cheers,
José

Speaking of the website. I love what they did with the Ruby on Rails
Sydney group. http://faces.rubyonrails.com.au
Basically they integrated it with irc and can get people owing beers,
cocktails when someone helps out. You can reclaim your beers when you
go to the meetings together. Pretty nifty...
