The Manor opens it's doors in just over 2 weeks time. I'm getting
everything ready for you lot and so it's time to choose the lucky
people that'll be talking this year.

We'll announce the lineup on Monday 30th December at 13:30.

However, we really, REALLY, need to know how long those of you that've
proposed a talk want to talk for.

We also really need the rest of the community to make a final push
towards shaping the proposals. We'll be making the choices based on a)
the amount of community interest and b) how much of an outline there
appears to be c) the time.

Check out the spreadsheet:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tbKZuWuZx731H7UOkzU9w_w&single=true&gid=0&output=html

And get involved.

Mine's an expandable feast (Denormalizing your Rails application), but I think 30m would be ok.

Mine - short order, everyday scripting with ruby - would probably be 15 minutes; can be 30 minutes if so requested by the Manorites.

RubyGoLightly is probably 30 minutes but could be longer or shorter to suit.

Also I'll withdraw my Breaking Stuff with JRuby proposal - if anyone wants to do some of that on the day we can always find a quiet corner to feed our madness :)

We're still waiting for a bunch of proposals to come back with timings - see the link below
If you see your name in that sheet, The Guvner needs to hear from you. He's presenting the final set of proposals on Monday, but that's hard to do without knowing how long each presentation should last.

You don't want to let The Guvner down now, do you?

There are two versions of the Ruby / Applescript talk I could do: one 15 minutes long which covers the basic ground but doesn't go into too much detail on the distinction between RubyOSA and rb-appscript, and has one, relatively trivial, demo.

There's a 30 minute version which spends more time on the distinctions between approaches, message composition, and has more demos. I'm trying to work up a third-party web service / InDesign hook up for a nice meaty useful work demo. I've also got a complex iTunes playlist building demo and the old address-book cleanup favourite

The two that I feel are still relevant, I'd probably go with ..

Joy of painting with Ruby - 15 minutes.
Building mobile apps with Rhodes - 15 minutes.

But I could probably stretch them out to 30 minutes should there be enough interest.

Cheers,
Jase.
