Hey,

so i'd like to propose a couple of things, one in conjunction with
Matt Patterson-

1. we're both working on a project right now which requires an amount
of translation work. We've had a poke at various existing models/
paradigms for solving this that exist right now, and aren't convinced.
So we've convinced the client to let us go off and make our own. yee-
haw, or something similar. :)

So it'd be fun to show it off to you lot at the manor and get your
feedback on what it looks like :)

2. making ruby talk to hardware.

i've done a bunch of arduino hacking which talks to ruby, and i'd be
more than happy to demo this, and talk about how it works. it's kind
of fun, being able to tweet stuff into the physical space, for
example :)

I'm really interested in the second proposal. I've done some
microcontroller programming in the past, but never used an Arduino, so
I'd be interested in a presentation that showed me what to buy, how to
program it, how to link it up, how to talk to it with Ruby, and some
cool things you've done with it.

Paul.

+1 to the hardware talk. Paul has covered everything I'd like to hear.

I think there was a talk at RubyConf about embedded programming involving ruby...
Not sure if it applies, but: http://www.atomicobject.com/pages/RubyConf2007

Cool. i think i'm going to talk about, er, "working with" "certain
popular entry cards" to obtain "different fares" of er...
"transport". :)

maybe if i get time also describe a disco in a milk bottle.

PS: yes, the above is euphemistic, but i'd like to avoid being visited
by law enforcement...
