I could do a presentation on my (successful) efforts at imitating an
iPhone to download iPlayer videos: history, countermeasures, counter-
countermeasures, technical details, parsing and interpreting
JavaScript data structures in Ruby, making Ruby's Net::HTTP act like
an iPhone, reverse-engineering RTMP, that sort of thing.

Does that sound interesting to anyone? What specific aspects would you
want to know about/find unbearably tedious?

Paul.

You can invite him along as far as I'm concerned - it's all open
source, and I even use a public svn repository!

I noticed you've made some recent changes to the code to support
building a GUI.

I think it would be interesting to hear about how you used Ruby to
interrogate the Big British Castle's servers and get the handshaking
right, but also how you went about restructured a simple script into a
reusable library. That sounds like a common goal for many successful
side projects.

+1. Like the sound of it a lot - varied and lots of meaty goodness!

+1 for this.

I am interested in "reverse-engineering RTMP" part and again another
+1 for what James said.

I envisage a 30-minute talk. I don't think I can fit everything into 8
minutes!

Paul.
