Search extensions

Working on puppet code to automate our ldap server builds and the last piece of the puzzle is the retrieval of subentries and aci management. I have been unable to find where I can flip that switch to on in net/ldap. On the command line with ldapsearch it is the '-E subentries' option. Ideas on how much work it would be to get net/ldap to be able to do this?
