EBS RAID configuration

Hello

What is the advantage of configuring RAID on top of EBS? I'm guessing the underlying architecture for EBS is already optimized for redundancy and some performance.

Probably no need to do it for redundancy, but I've seen benchmarks that claim it gives better performance.
