These would be in addition to the main feed. Breaking things into Genres
would be a good idea. And we could clearly do some of the more popular
games. I doubt we could manage all the possible games. To me as long as
more than say four or five people would use a category then it's something
we should consider.
As far as doing a little bit of everything, I understand. As a matter of
fact, a category such as "General" or similar , may be good here, although
everyone may select that for their blog.
Overall, this is one topic that will require a lot of discussion before I
start trying to code it.

It's been roughly about one year since the RPG Blog Alliance was starte=
d. I happy to report that we have seen a lot of new members, as of this wri=
ting, we have 369 active site feeds. I have to admit that's more than I=
ever thought we would have. As many of you may know, when I started it, I =
thought we would have maybe 100 or so sites. So, it makes me happy to see s=
o many.

With this size of course has come certain problems. Recently, we have have =
had a lot of automated site entries from spam sites. For you end users, you=
have not noticed this as we had both an email verify and an administrator =
verify required before any site was polled by the system. We did however ge=
t something on the order of one thousand automated entries. We had to do so=
mething about that of course. We decided we would implement a simple captch=
a system when sites would be submitted. This has worked very well and has n=
ot so far prevented anyone from submitting their site for verification.

The other problem we face is one of sheer size of the current RSS feed. Rig=
ht now we get about 112 post per day on average. That's quite a lot to =
look through. There has been a request to have categories. It seems that ha=
ving different categories provide different feeds would be a good way to li=
mit the number of posts to sort through. The question is how do you assign =
categories? The current school of though here is allow each site to choose =
up to three categories that they would want to be listed in. This would pre=
vent someone from simply listing themselves in all the categories. The real=
question then becomes what categories do we need? Which is where I would n=
eed you help in coming up with possible categories.

In other news, I have submitted and am currently waiting for an approval on=
a little RPGBA gathering at GenCon 2012 on Saturday at 3pm. It's mostl=
y to just get together face to face with some of the members. As soon as it=
gets approved, I'll let everyone know what the event id is so those go=
ing to GenCon can find it.
