One of the guys at the Rochesterturning blog tells me that links to
the print version of D&C articles do not die as quickly as regular
links do.

Has anybody else noticed this? If it's true, it can help us keep the
number of dead links down.

Link to stories found in today's print edition will generally remain
valid for up to 60 days, with certain items flagged as evergreen and
allowed to live for longer periods of time.

Updates and news items posted on the D&C.com web site, the type of
stuff that sometimes gets updated throughout the day, has a much
shorter shelf life -- usually 1-7 days. The most significant of those
stories tend to get packaged into the next day's paper and get put
back onto the web with a new URL, triggering the 60-day window.
