On Saturday, Oct. 3rd the Roch. Sierra Club is holding its annual FALL FESTIVAL. This year the program will focus on Rochester's land preservation movement and how our city has come to have so many beautiful parks. Guest speaker, Larry Champoux has assembled a slide show using great early photographs of Rochester, particularly photos of the Cobbs Hill Park area - the old canal and the old bridge over it on Culver Rd., the old boat factory (current site of the Armory) and photos showing the construction of the reservoir. There will also be a guided hike through Washington Grove at Cobb's Hill. Come learn about how the Grove got its name, why the old oaks could disappear and invasive Norway maples could take over if nothing is done to change things.
Date: Saturday, Oct. 3rd
Where: Tay House Lodge, just behind #1 Elementary School on Hillside Ave. (right near Cobb's Hill Park / Washington Grove)
Time: 4:30pm - guided hike - ALL AGES are welcome!
5:30pm - pizza and refreshments
