The Virginia Rail that I found heard and then saw fly was an adult. When I first heard it giving some call notes I was not
familiar with; then saw it flush and 'weakly ' fly about 30 feet...I thought it must be a young bird. After some reading and
research I now realize it must be an adult. This bird was on the right side after crossing the creek at Gala Wetlands. This
is the location this species has been found for the past 8 weeks. Nothing else of much interest noted.
