Great Blue Heron

While going up my driveway, at noon today, I spotted a Great Blue Heron standing not more than 15' away in Maple Branch. We looked at each other for a moment and when I reached in my bag for my camera, it took off, making a low circle over my lower field and then raised up to clear the nearby woods. Each fall and spring I occasionally will see one in that tiny creek named Maple Branch.
