Around noon today, hawks began moving across our area, but not anywhere near the numbers of yesterday. Our count was again done from our lawn (and roof) approximately ¼ mile east of the Bent Mt. Post Office. The broad-winged hawks followed the same pattern of appearing low in the east/northeast, gaining altitude, and moving southwestward along Poor Mountain. Our count for the day was 179 broad-winged hawks, 4 sharp-shinned, 3 red-tails, 2 northern harriers, 1 osprey, and 1 adult bald eagle.
