Symposium: New Opportunities at the Interface between Ecology and Statistics
July 11-12, 2013
The University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia

Registration now open!  Final program now available at http://www.eco-stats.unsw.edu.au/program.pdf<file:///C:\Dropbox\Eco-Stats\docs\program.pdf>

Ecologists and statisticians have much to gain from working together, and this two-day symposium is designed to provide precisely such an opportunity.  This symposium has been designed as a collaborative forum for researchers with interests in ecology, statistics, or both.  World leaders from statistics and ecology will be paired up to present their own perspectives on five topical issues, and round-table discussions will workshop opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration on these topics.  Session topics:

  *   Presence-only data and point pattern analysis (Jane Elith, Adrian Baddeley)
  *   Maximum entropy modelling in ecology (Bill Shipley, Trevor Hastie)
  *   Visualising multivariate data (Gerry Quinn, Shirley Pledger)
  *   Mapping bioclimatic variables (Chris Daly, Noel Cressie)
  *   Functional and phylogenetic diversity (Will Cornwell, Anne Chao)
Already coming to the Symposium?  Visit the Symposium's study blog (http://eco-stats-symposium.blogspot.com.au/) for suggested reading and a weekly discussion forum on feature articles by our invited speakers.

Early bird registrations (20% discount) end 31 May.
