Wondering why the insurance companies are not opposing Obama care?
The fedl agency CMS has threatened to "audit" any insurance company that opposes them.
The TV commercials attest to the "health" of the insurance companies. Have you ever seen so many really slick ads by insurance companies. Do you prefer Flo or the Gecko? Liberty Mutual, best known for their coverage in Workmen's comp is selling auto insurance policies on TV. That's a lot of money chasing a few dollars---and in a different set of customers.
At least one company, Principal, is gone, but most are buying time trying to position themselves in their coming reality..
IMHO, there'd be more gone if they didn't believe there's a chance that Obama care will disappear when the courts which have ruled that the USG can't force citizens to buy a product. The govt now claims it is not a purchase. The USG's power to tax, they say, is unlimited and therefor Constitutional.
Certainly, the lawyers on both sides know this defense is not going to hold up. Why? Can you say Sen. Scott Brown. When Mass elected him to fill Ted Kennedy's seat, the Democrat Socialists lost their filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. The Senate had passed their version of Obamacare before Sen Brown was elected and sent it to the House shortly after.
Pelosi's Team was already writing up their own version of the nations healthcare (aka adding pork) but there was a problem. If they passed a 2nd version, the 2 bills would go into reconciliation where changes would be made, and the 2 Houses would vote on the reconciled bill. There-in, lies the problem. The Dems no longer had their filibuster-proof Senate.
Rather than face a possible filibuster, the Healthcare bill managers decided the House would simply sign off on the Senate bill, avoiding the need for Reconciliation and another vote. And, that's what the POTUS signed in to law---the Senate Bill. But these champions of the Constitution were too smart by half.
“All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other bills.”
Article I, Section 7, Clause1
Oopsie!
SCOTUS corrupt?
Of course, that brings us back to where we started. The SCOTUS has 4 conservative Justices, 4 progressive Justices and one RINO, Anthony Kennedy. And if any one of them quits or dies, there’s going to be one helluva ratification hearing in the Senate.
Nullification
The best thing for the country would be for the Obama to be found a usurper. Every paper/bill/law he signed as POTUS would immediately be null and void. But that too, falls on the shoulders of Anthony Kennedy.
Constitutional Convention
The main groups pushing for a Con Con are the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a conservative association of state legislators; and a new group calling itself the 10 Amendments for Freedom, Inc, chaired by William Fruth, President of POLICOM Corporation, which provides independent economics research.
