Subject: Shell Scripting
Anyone good or atleast decent at scripting. I'm trying to remember,
but can't for the life of me, how to have a script ask for user input.
Specifically, in a restore script have it ask what backup file to
restore in a directory full of backups

Thanks to anyone who can help. In the mean time I will search through
my books...

Mike

Mike:

I'm terrible at scripting but there is a person on ubuntuforums who
has created something like what you want.  You can check it out here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=47999.   And here is a thread
about doing that for drupal, I think a little tweaking at either of
these and they will be what you are looking for.

Those are pretty good. I already have something written, I need it to
ask which file. Those ones and many other ones all have the file to
restore hard coded in the script. Plus they use tar which has a limit
of a few GB  and I need to backup 100GB. I'm going to try the backup
command.
