Greetings friends,

This discussion thread will be focused on our agenda for our upcoming
New Member Orientation meeting on January 20th. We will be placing a
focus on meeting new members and introducing ourselves to those
members of the community who are curious about redesigning our
society. Some of the other topics we should expect to discuss are:

Our recent screenings of ZMF.
Distribution of new member orientation materials.
New awareness and educational campaigns.
Z-Day planning for the March 11th weekend.
Our next meeting.

What would you like to talk about?

I've been thinking for a while now about how we can relate on a more personal level with people who visit our website. Currently, we have a lot of information about our events and meetings, but there is not a lot of personal or communal information there. I think one kind of little project we can all partake in in a very simple way is for each of us to produce a personal narrative about why we have decided to join the movement. I am thinking of a personal story, anecdote or other information written in a few paragraphs that allow others in our community to understand why we are working together for these goals. I want to call it Zeitgeist: Looking Inward and have it appear somewhat regularly on our homepage.

I would like to know your thoughts and opinions about this idea and if you would be willing to participate and contribute. It's just a simple idea I had and I think it might help bring some more personal and relate-able information about our group to others who might not understand what we're about.

Thank you.

me too, that is a great idea Frank, and the name "zeitgeist: looking
inward" ...brilliant! :)

about the agenda, a few members and i have been toying with ideas
about "Z day" and a few of us liked the idea of having a music
fest/open mic/poetry reading/public speaker -type of vibe to the
event. We could use local bands and musicians and poets that already
have a local following to attract a crowd, and, in effect, have a
captive audience for the message of the movement. It would be a
positive way to attract members of the community to the event, and we
can theme the performances to be about peace, and making the world a
better place for everyone. It could be an event that could start in
the early afternoon or evening, and run for hours on a schedule that
would integrate presentations and performances intermittently rotated
on the stage or performance area.. with time slots for
discussion/debate/q&a as well. All performers would be there on a
volunteer basis, so there would be no cost to us. Armando suggested
the STC auditorium that we used for the screening. We could set up
some booths outside for some breakout sessions that could include
demonstrations of some ideas that would be aligned with the movement,
like maybe some eco-friendly stuff, or some vegetarian barbecue ideas,
or some energy saving demonstrations or something, i don't know. we
could get more specific as the date gets nearer.

If we could use this idea of musicfest/open mic/poetry reading/public speaker for our z-day event, I think we can get a crowd.

In addition to those ideas, I say a art show area or live art show
would also go hand in hand.

Wow, if we are able to do all of this it'll be awesome! and even
better if some of us can present, since in our group there are artists
like sam, dani, celina, mike and kristal, and musicians like ray,
mike, me hahaha, I also love the idea of the eco-friendly
demonstrations for example I know how to make different recycled toys
and toy cars that work with little solar panels, another major project
perhaps for another ocasion or for this one if we have the time and
supplies, would be making a small scale model of a venus project city
so people could have a 3D visual of what it'll be like.
And hallucinating a little more maybe we could have a little play of
"One day, at the venus project", kind of having someone waking up, not
having to go to work, going to the "no money market" in his no gas
(electric car) where he can get what he needs for breakfast and lunch,
and then going to his group of what he likes to do best, let's say
astronomy center, or music center, or gardening, cooking
or....whatever....just an idea.

LOL... and they would never want to go back into the world! lol.

Also, I think a team of designers, engineers, and suchlike, all part of the ZM, since we now have so many people and occupations in the ZM, should start the Update project, getting familiar with Jocque's city design and then integrating and redesigning it to modern ideas, to show it is more practical than Jacque's city, which is, of course, way behind what is possible now. I think the technology is out there, for cities that could 'grow' from small dense 'blocks' into whatever design is decided upon, in situ, with all necessary infrastructure already designed in. The potential is immense, and we are in the middle of a acceleration of acceleration of scientific and technological discovery and innovation that could possibly speed up the growth of the paradigm merely by being demonstrated as possible. While we cannot actually build a city, because the power that be would destroy it almost immediately, we can still make it real in people's minds, spark their imaginations, and create a renaissance beyond anything anyone thought possible.

All this can go on concurrently with the main thrust of the Movement, of getting out the ideas that can make the world work for all Humanity. It only takes will and commitment by a few, willing to endure anything to bring the ideas into existence and take them out of the purely conceptual. I think it's an idea whose time has come.
