Dear All,
This is to inform you that Research Foundation for Governance in India (RFGI) is hosting a Public Debate on 'Is fasting necessary to change the system in India?' from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, Friday June 10, 2011 at Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA).
In the recent times, fasting is becoming a popular way to get government attention. Some people think its extortion. Some think it’s the only way left that can change the system.
First, Anna Hazare and now Baba Ramdev, have garnered a lot of media and public attention through these means. Some people argue that choosing to fast even when there are democratic ways to do the same thing is unethical. The debate arises when certain section of the society thinks that all is lost and that only a fast will get their voice to the government.
Have all democratic means become useless? Are Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev doing the right thing? Are they really interested in it or is it just for political mileage? Do we really need to do something this drastic to convince the government to change things around us?
These and lots of other interesting questions will be debated. All are invited and the event is free to attend. For more details, please call +91 99040 45424.
With Regards,
Team RFGI
