Dear All,
This is to inform you that Research Foundation for Governance in India
(RFGI) is hosting a Public Debate on *'Why are Heros in India born only in
Bollywood and Cricket?'* from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, on Monday September 26,
2011 at Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA).
Our Debate topic this time is slightly different! In this debate, we are not
going to discuss technicalities of a bill nor are we going to talk about
legal or political reforms. However, what we will be discussing has very
strong relevance to the life of a common-man of India. This time, we are
questioning our social norms and trying to understand how our society
creates its protagonists?!
It is commonly believed that there are only two factors that bind India:-
one is Bollywood and the other, Cricket! Indians are obsessed with Bollywood
and worship anything which has even slightest of association with Cricket.
Naturally, whenever we have tried finding role-models for our country, we
have knowingly or unknowingly always looked at these two factors. Would
India, a country in dire need for young positive icons, ever move beyond
Cricket and Bollywood? When would be motivated by real heros who positively
contribute towards our country?
Let’s come together and debate: ‘Why are heros in India born only in
Bollywood and Cricket?’ Will this ever change?
All are invited and the debate is free to attend. For more details, please
call +91 99040 45424.
With Regards,
Team RFGI
