Dear All,
Research Foundation for Governance in India (RFGI) is hosting a Public Debate on 'Has the common man become thick-skinned to the real problems?' from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM, on Friday November 25, 2011 at
Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA), IIMA Road.
Today, no corruption scandals, no scams, no fuel price hikes, no terrorist attacks have any effect on the Indian common man. Have we become so used to the problems that we have become immune to them? Have we stopped trying to improve the society? Whenever the morale of our country is shaken by someone, the common man finds sitting in his armchair a peaceful option. Everyone is aware about the short term memory loss of our citizens, so a drama staged with candle light vigils is enough to impress them. Sometimes a whistle blower steps in but even he stands lost and forgotten in the long run.
But we at RFGI do not believe in sitting down with our hands folded; and want to draw the common man’s attention towards the unfair practices prevalent around him. ‘Arise, Awake and Stop Not till the goal is achieved’- Considering this clarion call of Swami Vivekananda an essential mantra for today’s common man we wish to hold this event to discuss as to what are the reasons for this widespread apathy and how people could be sensitised to contribute to a society, which is in dire need of reforms.
Let’s come together and debate: ‘Has the common man become thick-skinned to the real problems?
Please find attached the poster for the debate with the e-mail. We would be delighted to see you at the debate. We would, of course, be happy to send you a summary of the event in case of your inability to attend.
With Regards,
Team RFGI
