I've been a long time fan of YanceyWare since back in the old PDA days
(10 years or so). I have accumulated quite a library of YBK books by
using the YanceyLink converter and the old Gospel Link software.
I was excited to see that you guys had created an app that would read
YBK files.

But I have a Samsung Charge and loaded the app on my phone along with
many of my YBK books.
But my library menu doesn't appear anything like the screenshots on
the Google Play site.
It's just a basic listing of books in alphabetical order.
Also bookmarks seem to be in random order. They are not even
alphabetical. Makes it very difficult
to find anything quickly.

I'm not sure what I may have done wrong here. I seem to have the
latest updates from Google on my phone
and I've downloaded the recent version of your software. (at least I
think). I've also checked for updates.
I'd like to get your Reveal app working properly to take full
advantage of it.

I appreciate your hard work and dedication to this project. You are
helping thousands of people
and it's much appreciated. I'd simply like to be able to take
advantage of all of the tools available
in your app.

Suggestions?

Welcome to the Android side.  I've been here for 2 years and didn't die in the transition from Win Mobile even though I was sure I would.  I am an old YWR user as well and miss some of the features it provided that other readers have yet to provide. However, each reader seems to have its own strengths not shared with others.

Some have attempted to make a menu system to mimic some of the menus in YWR but these have not worked. Reveal gives a simple listing of the books in alpha order.  You can create folders that will be listed in alpha order as well and put books in the folders to group by categories.

As for bookmarks, I've never paid any attention to how they get listed but they are not in alpha order.

So, all of your observations are indeed how Reveal Reader works.  I'm not sure what you saw at Play Store that appeared otherwise.  I see two graphics there now with one being an open book and the other the alpha listing of books.  They are accurate as to what you would expect in those screens.  I don't think Reveal was designed for many hundreds of books...but, it does work just fine with that many other than the lack of the menu options in YWR.

I don't know if the developers are planning to continue working on Reveal or not.  The Church has provided Gospel Library but it doesn't have the ability to read all the many books that we old YWR users brought with us.  Plus, the Church's books still don't have pagination in the most important books such as the PR/RS manuals to make them easy to use in class.

Perhaps Jack and Dave can talk the Church into integrating into Gospel Library the ability to add in YWR books. I think (not sure but think) that Gospel Library is a specialized version of Reveal Reader.

Thanks for the response Dave,

I'll have to make do with the current Reveal and see if I can at least
limp along for awhile.
I wasn't familiar with the ability to create folders. I didn't see any option for that.
Do I need to do that in the file directory on the SD Card?

As for the Church's Gospel Library, they have at least added page numbers
to the Teachings of the Pres - George Albert Smith manual.
They sort of added a funky number along the margin that shows page number.
It works better than nothing.

Thanks for the heads up and for all of the effort that you and others
put into the Reveal app.

Phil

Long press on the book in the list and a menu will display for putting the book in a folder.

P Palmer,

Do you still have the YanceyLink converter? I was trying to download it again from the original website but it no longer exists...

If you would be kind to send me the YanceyLink via email I will be very happy, as I too used Palm PDAs and Windows Mobile PDAs and still miss many of the great features. I own the Gospel Link 2001 cds and want to convert them do read on my Android Cell phone.

I appreciate your kindness and help and hope you will be able to send me the Yancey Link Converter software.

Best Regards

Rodrigo Brigante
