etags & conditionalRequest plugin

Hi there,

I just checked the code for etag handling in the conditionalRequest plugin. The plugin compares the etag sent from the clint with one already set in the response. Who or what would set this etag in advance? Some kind of cache? What would be the best way if I would like to create the etag somehow based on businesslogic?
