Download Taking too Long

We have some collections that are 50 files large HD (some files over 30mb)... we've reduced our download limit to a max of 30 resources however, the download speed can be troublesome... is there any way besides choosing a different compression software or bumping up compression processing on the server level?

There are instances where we need to download large images for billboards etc but seem to be limited with slow speed. Any ideas? I did bump up the Application Pool disk Space Limite to 300mb... this seemed to help a lot. Any other ideas!

have you tried using the configuration
$use_zip_extension=true?

this requires the php zip extension.
If your downloads are 2+ GB, they will definitely take a while to
download, but with this method you may be able to get some feedback
about where the process is at.

I just switched to this and I love seeing the progress! It makes the download seem faster :-)
