Dear Friends, i just bought a new computer for do some test with RS
last version installing 2.4 on there. i copy my filestore form the old
one and make a backup of the database and restore in the new system
but the recourses dont show me the preview and the status of the
resourced was restricted, so i was aware about scramble key, so i
proceed to copy the Scramble Key from one system to anothert, but.....
i do the worst error on my life i guess, i copy the SK form the new
system to the old one by error, and now i have both system with
restricted access to the reouses and without no previo. Im die?? is
there any workarround i can do to solve this twerrible error??.

Hi, Dexter,

I think it will be possible to recover from this, but it may not be easy.

The best solution would of course be to remember the old scramble key.
But if that isn't an option, it should be possible to set a new
scramble key and then write a script to iterate through each database
record, locate the original files, and rename them according to the
new scramble key. (Or, alternatively, simply copy the original
resource and any alternates into the new folder structure and use the
regenerate previews script to recreate the derivative versions.)

This would obviously require some programming expertise. If you aren't
able to do this yourself, there are a few folks on the list (possibly
including myself) who might be able to take it on as a consulting
engagement.

regenerate previews script to recreate the derivative versions.)

Hi, Dexter,

Sorry, I was unclear here. I simply meant that because the thumbnail,
preview, etc. are all generated from the original file, you could
theoretically just copy the original files and then regenerate all of
your previews. But you would still need a script to locate the
original files and move them back into the proper place with the new
scramble key.

Simply running the regenerate previews script on the old filestore
won't do anything, because the script doesn't know where to find the
original files now that the scramble key has changed.
