Feature to delete full-sized and keep only resized versions

We read of a feature which would take an original video or image, resize to certain max size, then delete the initial upload. For example, user uploads 3 gb mov or mpeg video, system resizes to 300 mb flv or mp4 and original massive upload is deleted to save space.

We once saw references to this function but can't find any documentation. Does anyone if such a feature exists and if so what to config to switch it on.
