One of the most challenging educational periods in a child’s life is middle school. This is a critical time of academic, social and emotional development that demands premium attention. Many of the tools and skills that significantly impact future academic success are learned, developed and reinforced at this time. However, if left unaddressed or “under-addressed,” students often fall by the wayside in high school and college, if they even attend. Ánimo Westside Charter Middle School (AWMS) is a proud addition to the West Los Angeles community. One of the newest middle schools in the Green Dot Public School’s family of public charter schools, it continues to perpetuate the shared statement of academic excellence by delivering quality instruction that is relevant and purpose-driven. Westside MS is currently shares the campus of Cowan Elementary School in Westchester and its consistent growth proves it a beacon in the community.
