The following is intended to keep our community informed of an issue of public interest, and to urge your support in preventing the proliferation of cell phone towers in our neighborhood. Two presentations were made by community organizer, Sally Hampton, at our Civic Association meetings to inform us of the issue and urge our involvement. On June 23, there will be another hearing before the LA County Board of Supervisors and we are invited to show up with our neighbors in Windsor Hills, Baldwin Hills and View Park. This is a very positive step by the Supervisors but public input on the county's new wireless ordinance and a moratorium to protect citizens throughout the county until stronger regulations are in place is still needed.
June 9th the City of Glendale extended their cell tower moratorium for one full year. Here's the video link to view Glendale hearing - discussion on cell issue begins at 58 minutes into the meeting. Comments from the Glendale attorneys, the mayor, council members are excellent. In addition, some of the industry PR and myths are addressed by the mayor and council after T-Mobile and cell industry reps speak. The mayor and council actually blast them and say the most reliable information has come from research done by the public and much of what they have received from T-Mobile has been proven inaccurate or misleading.
