Who is planning on attending?

I have a possible schedule conflict Sunday. If one of the more active
group members (Nick? Devon? Keith?) is going to make it, and would be
willing to present, that could clear it up for me. If not, I can
cancel the other event and make ConFusion.

IOW, I will make sure our group presents at ConFusion one way or another.

Sorry, but I'm out for the next six weeks. Every free second not already
scheduled will be tied up the FIRST contest build, so I can't add more.
It's the "busy season" for that contest right now. FIRST just released the
new problem, and the build clock is running for all of the teams I mentor.

OOC, If you want to see the new game challenge, check out its animation here.
Animation, plus a few minutes of Dean Kamen's commentary (~40mb, ~10 min total):

Animation only, various formats & sizes (~3 min):

Game Manuals:

(If you want some non-RR fun, anyone here is welcome to come join in,
and help build a competition robot! ... Just let me know, and I'll find a team
in your neighborhood for you! :-)

Maybe we should meet this weekend to discuss this in more detail.  I'm available both Saturday and Sunday and would be willing to drive to either i3 Detroit or Holland.

I'm willing to talk for a little bit, but I don't want to talk for an hour and a half by myself.  I think ideally we will have 3 speakers each speak for 25 minutes with 15 minutes for questions.

We should bring a working machine as well.  Unfortunately I think mine is farther from working than I was a week before the AAMF.  PLA has been harder to work with than I expected.

OK. Sounds like I should cancel the other engagement. Will do.

I can meet this sunday at i3Detroit. I've been so swamped with school
that I haven't had a moment for some quality reprap time.

I haven't heard anything from Phil or anyone at i3Detroit, so just
dropping in on short notice probably isn't a good idea. Is there
somewhere else we can meet? Is anyone other than me and StMaus
interested in meeting this weekend?

Just to update everyone on my progress: I've found that passing the
PLA through an oily cloth before entering the extruder makes a big
difference. PLA is very sticky and I think under pressure it finds
lots of cracks and crevices to get stuck in leading to lots of
resistance. The oil fills these voids and keeps everything moving.
I am using engine oil and replenishing it with a few drops every half
hour. I give it even odds that I will have a working machine by
ConFusion.

I am interested in getting involved as much as possible. My name is
Dean Piper and I'm in Grand Rapids, MI. I can't do a long trip this
weekend but maybe in the coming weeks. I am working with Nicholas
McCoy on getting my RepRap going, I still have a ways but I think
together we can pull one off with our parts combined. I just need to
get him some cash at this point and I think I will be all good to
start printing soon. If anyone is a little closer to me and would like
to meet let me know, I could easily do Lansing, K-zoo, or Holland.

Hi Dean,

I'm in Grand Rapids as well... I have two repstraps, one of which has
printed a few of the parts for Nick's Mendel. I also have about
200lbs of PLA for sale, along with tons of spare and custom extruder
parts. Any time you'd like to get together, let me know.

Tim,

If you are in town at all this weekend I would certainly be interested in getting together briefly. I would be interested in getting some of that PLA from you too at some point, I am mostly concerned with getting parts together at the moment but I still need something to work with once I have a machine so we should definitely talk. I am around most evenings during the week, I am working a lot this week however, and on the weekends as well. I am on the west side of Grand Rapids somewhat close to Union High School, I'm not sure how familiar you are with the area. Regardless, the sooner the better, I have a whole set of electronics here just waiting to be broken into.... :)

We didn't end up meeting.  Were you planning on going to ConFusion?

So far, I the only people I know who are going are me and Tim.

I plan on attending Confusion, and would like to buy some of the PLA as
well if you can bring it with you.
