I've got some video over IP gear - one encoder and three decoders. I
need to source the video to two places, it is currently delivered to
one, after much gnashing of teeth and changing of settings. I have to
send the audio and video to a second site, all without any instruction
manuals for the gear, and the company isn't around any more (at least
where this product line is concerned). An extensive search a few months
ago yielded a few sales brochures, but nothing helpful.
Does anybody know how the protocol works well enough to explain it to
me? I'm thinking I can put in the address of the box that is
transmitting, and somehow magically they will agree on something and
allow participation.... but that's all a guess. Watching the stream when
I had them set up at home, the receiver kept asking 'who has
xx.xx.xx.xx' which is some address for broadcast, I gather. It also was
asking 'who has yy.yy.yy.yy', which was the encoder address. They then
took off together... They are currently both static IPs at different sites.
Meanwhile, I'll try my own suggestion of throwing in the address and see
what happens. I can only work on this while on the road, Hughesnet isn't
fast enough to support it.
The gear in question is the Amnis / Optivision 3004 encoder and 4000
decoder series.
Thanks,
