Is there a means to tune an antenna tuner in the CW portion of the band?

Is there a good means to send a constant carrier to an automatic
antenna tuner in the CW portion of the band? On our club station there
is an LDG auto tuner connected between the rig and the antenna that is
triggered by RF and an SWR above 1:1.5.

I know in the voice portion of the band you can switch to AM and send
a carrier. In short, how do you do this in the CW portion of the band?

I am thinking that if you send a series of V's or T's at a high speed
you may give the tuner enough rf to measure SWR
seems to me that the tune button on some rigs does that

It depends on what radio you use at the remote station. Almost any radio has
FSK setting that will put out constant carrier when keyed but you really
should reduce the power during the tune cycle. My TS-480 is able to be
programmed to go to CW and 10 watts for antenna tuning with a single button
push (or mouse click when in remote) and it returns to its previous setting
when the tune mode if left.

The lower power setting during tuning is much easier on the relays in the
LDG tuner.

On the user interface there is a "CW Tune" button but when I click it
the interface flashes "no transmit". Is this something that I can
configure. Thanks for the suggestions so far, I've tried them and they
work but I'm really looking for something that a new ham can simply
use.

What radio are you using? My Kenwood tuner button does not work on my 480HX
because I do not have a tuner in the radio and if I connect the radio to my
external LDG tuner, it will not allow my 480HX to go beyond 100 watts. In my
case, they is a button labeled as PF that is programmable through a menu
setting that does what I need to allow the LDG tuner to do its thing.

If you are using a different radio, maybe someone else can fill you in.

I am not familiar with the 2000 but a quick look in the manual finds the
front panel button can be programmed to do the same thing. Menu 51A will
allow the front panel PF button to be used for CW tune, same as the 480. I
do not believe the Kenwood remote software supports use of this button, but
Ham Radio Deluxe does.

A number of radios have a button labelled .. TUNE.. Traditionally that
function has been used for such things as adjusting antenna couplers and
amplifiers, etc...

Did you ever try to extend the ssb-range in the .ini-file?
This should enable am also in the cw-range!

Thank you for the suggestion but AM emission in the CW band is against
the rules here in the US.

carrier remains carrier, no difference you generate it in the am or in
the cw-position of your transceiver, it's just a long t-dash, hihi...
