Gora was great feminist. He also severely opposed installation of porno

Famous rationalist, social reformer and freedom fighter named Goparaju
Ramachandra Rao(Gora) used to encourage widow remarriages in Andhra Pradesh
in past. Gora was also associate of Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi
appreciated social reform movements led by Gora. Gora's wife Saraswati also
worked with Gora in rationalist, social reformation and freedom movements.

Widow remarriages are recorded more in Haryana. In that state, maximum
age for remarriage of widows is 45 years.

I appreciate your views regarding the above matter. I hope other males
also would joint hands in this regard. But what about those who do not

Why should women live alone without remarriage after their husbands
death when men do not live alone after death of their wifes? Men and
women must have equal rights in enjoyment of marital life.

Marriage is important for both men and women. Opposing remarriages of
women and supporting only remarriages of men can be called double
standard. We should not follow such double standards.

Nowadays women are studying upto degree. But even the women who study
upto degree are sitting in homes and depending on their husbands

As our society is male headed society, so the men of the society will
have to take the step. There are so many movies, newsletters and
revolutions have taken place in past but still the conditions have not
changed much. The change has to take place in small towns and villages.
As this being a personal decision of oneself govt. can not do anything.

In matrimonial pages of news papers i am often noticing that only
widowers and divorced men are seeking for widows. Why dont unmarried
guys also marry widows? If widowers or divorced men cam marry unmarried
girls, why cant unmarried guys marry widows?

Few castes and families in hindus do remarriages to widows. The day
must come when whole hindu society dont feel wrong in doing remarriages
to widows.

Sati custom came in middle age. They used to forcebily burn wife with
husband in funeral pyre. Britishers abolished sati custom by request of
hindu organisation Brahma samaj which was founded by famous religious
reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy. Custom of removing hair came after
abolishment of sati custom.

I just wanted to know that if remarriages of widows existed in all the
previuos ages u mentioned then y it abolished in Guptas period. what
does the hindu mythology explains about it..
and what about the "satti" custom and the tradition of removing hairs
of the widows and special diet etc,...what are the myths about it.i

Tradition of widow remarriages existed in India even in the age of
Ramayana and Mahabharata. In Mahabharata Arjuna married a widow and
Naga princess named Uloopi. In age of Mouryas also tradition of widow
remarriages continued. But in time of Guptas widow remarriages were
abolished.
