Sati custom came in middle age. They used to forcebily burn wife with <br> husband in funeral pyre. Britishers abolished sati custom by request of <br> hindu organisation Brahma samaj which was founded by famous religious <br> reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy. Tradition of widow remarriages existed in India even in the age of <br> Ramayana and Mahabharata. In Mahabharata Arjuna married a widow and <br> Naga princess named Uloopi.
