Friends of Westside Family Health Center,
Please join us on Monday, 10/29 from 5:30-7 p.m. when we celebrate the first birthday of Westside Family Health Center’s 36 foot teal Mobile Medical Unit (MMU). We will sing happy birthday, tour the MMU, hear stories from our community partners and enjoy yummy refreshments.
Since November 2011, our Mobile Medical Unit has been on the streets making an impact on the health of our community, particularly on populations who lack adequate access to health care.
Currently, we make eight MMU visits monthly to six sites. We see patients in underserved neighborhoods working with La Tijera United Methodist Church in Los Angeles. We partner with mental health agencies to provide physical health services to their clients including a health contract for the Farsi community at Jewish Family Service and acute mental health clients at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services in Los Angeles and for women with substance abuse problems at Didi Hirsch's site in Pacoima. We also provide reproductive health services at Olympic High School in Santa Monica and Health Services Academy in South Los Angeles. Recently, WFHC submitted a contract to LAUSD to provide four additional area high schools with reproductive health services through the MMU.
