Great! Thanks, Greg! Thursday, April 17th, from 7-9pm will be the first Refresh meeting in 2008...!
I completely agree with your ideas for the first meeting. It would be great to discuss what the function of Refresh is, why it exists, what our purpose should be in organizing at all... Is anyone scheduled for a web standards talk at BarCamp?

FYI, I have a room for Refresh at Devry for the 3rd Thursday (4/17-June) from 7-9PM.
Let's get an agenda together and I can make a post on our site with an meeting announcement. And we should start evangelizing this at barcamp
I was thinking the first meeting could be an intro to RefreshOrlando, our mission statement, goals, etc. And then maybe to a an intro to web standards..what, why, how, etc.
Thoughts?

Just an fyi, I sent a request for space note to Devry on Tuesday, but have yet to get a reply. I asked for space for 20-40 attendees from 7-9pm on the 3rd Thursday's starting 4/17.
I'll let you know as soon as I get a response.

Hey, all. You've all expressed some interest in participating in the Refresh Orlando team. Thanks!
By now, you've probably all received credentials for the new Textpattern install on refreshCF.org, maybe you've even poked around a bit. If not, get to it! Poking about is the best way to figure things out, IMO!
Speaking of poking around, be sure to greet all your fellow teammates... Courtesy is important, after all... Phil is the Phil of legend, who alongside realPedro formed the original Refresh Orlando group. Greg and Eddie have graciously volunteered their time and energy in getting things together. Eddie is a self-proclaimed designer, so I've given him that role; Greg gets to be a "copy editor" until we find a better place for him. :D
Kidding! Lemme know what capacity you can each best fulfill and we'll sort it out. Having never met you guys, AKAIK, we're operating primarily on trust and shared interest. I tend to address those situations with humor, so forgive me if I kid mercilessly.
For now, the TxP install will provide a sold CSS + XHTML blogging platform for us that can easily be replaced. I'd also like to setup Google Apps on refreshCF.org, but I'll need Phil's help with that... Phil? Domain editing? CPanel?
Eddie, if you could hammer out some designs that are a little better than the not-quite-default theme that I slapped in there... Lemme know if you need somewhere to mess around with stuff. TxP installs very easily, just about anywhere.
Greg, uh... How are you at organizing? We kinda need a place to meet, and a date. We've discussed the Devry center, which is where the ORUG group meets, right? Could you get a room and a date there? We also talked about the 17th, I think, which is a Thursday, to be inline with the other user groups. Can you work on that?
I'm gonna start putting posts together on the site, and we'll all review and approve them before posting. Any ideas for the first meeting? Maybe we do a presentation on the purpose behind Refresh? Start chatting. We'll have a write board or something with Google Apps, soon enough.
Welcome to the team!
