WP Engine is a sponsor of a global event called 1k1day, the idea is to get
1000 and more Women businesses up and running on WordPress on Sunday
September 9th 2012.
You can learn more about the actual event here
http://startuptrainingschool.com/events/1k-1d/
*If you know any women interested in starting a business online then this
event is for them!*
We've even offered to host one of their events at our facilities at the
Capital Factory located at 701 Brazos Street, Suite 1602.
The rundown of the event is there will be a podcast that we will play for
the women that will act as their guide, but we will also staff the event
with our awesome support team to answer questions, help them set up certain
features, etc.
*In a nutshell, the tasks we’ll cover include:*
- Purchasing web hosting from our recommend provider WP Engine.
- Installing WordPress on your domain (only required if you host using a
cPanel hosting service).
- Configuring the settings on your WordPress website so that it works
the way you want it to.
- Adding a couple of nifty things (called plugins) which enhance the way
that WordPress works.
- Setting up the pages you want on your new website.
- Adding the content to your pages (if you’ve already completed this in
the preparation stage).
- Showing you how and where you can start to customise the look & feel
of your website should you want to.
I've written a blog post about it here:

And created a Facebook event page here:

The women will have to sign up through the startup training schools
website, but then could choose to participate on their own, or at our
physical event.
Direct any questions or inquiries to me! Sha...@wpengine.com
And I would greatly appreciate if you guys would post on calendars, email
chains, Facebook, twitter, and help us spread the word out!
