Generally I can check this using a handy FF add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/532
This is really great since is highlights the link green (pass) or red
(fail). But I've found some issue with it lately. Namely if a client
creates an link/anchor with an empty label like:
<a href="http://some.com/file.pdf"></a>
the FF add-on doesn't catch it.
What I've really looking for is some way to schedule these on a
regular basis for all my clients. Since they tend to maintain the
sites I'd like to run a check once a month or so.
And thought on sites/utilities would be appreciated.
Sounds like you need a spider running on a cron job. That way you could
check for broken links AND images. An empty anchor wouldn't pose a
problem to the any script either.
