Pluck
is seeking a talented front-end developer to craft a new interface for
our Social Application Server, which powers billions of social media
interactions each month. Working closely with the product management,
creative and engineering teams, you will harness your experience
developing semantic HTML and clean CSS to create a framework of
consistent, beautiful and usable interfaces for Pluck’s enterprise
platform and our clients’ Web sites.
Responsibilities:
• Work
closely with the User Experience Manager to define, document and extend
a markup and style framework for all of Pluck’s widgets
• Define best practices and patterns to be used throughout the system
• Build
HTML, CSS and presentational JavaScript from layered Photoshop files,
user interface wireframes, and/or detailed written specifications
• Use your creative and professional judgment to resolve design and technical challenges within aggressive timelines
• Work
on multiple concurrent projects in different phases of completion, from
conception through consultation with engineering during QA
Mandatory Skills and Experience
• Minimum of three years professional experience hand-coding semantically correct HTML and CSS
• Strong understanding of Web UI principles, patterns and processes, and knowledge of current technologies
• Proven ability to cleanly implement UI and solve challenges across multiple browsers including IE6+, Firefox 2+ and Safari 2+
• Working
knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, including the ability to efficiently
slice and dice layered files into HTML, CSS and component images to be
used within standalone widgets
• Ability to extend design concepts and styles for use in undefined areas
• Ability to document coding style guides and practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of the impact front-end development decisions have on design as well as middle and back-end development
• Familiar with popular social media tools and services
Desired Skills and Experience
• Experience developing high volume Web-based solutions that non-technical users interact with daily
• Knowledge
of and/or some experience with one or more languages: .Net, Python,
PHP, ASP, Ruby, JSP, Flash or JavaScript frameworks
• Experience working with client managers or directly with clients
• Experience in the publishing industry, marketing agencies or multi-national brands
• Experience creating wireframes or interface sketches
