National Instruments is currently looking for a UI/Visual Design
candidate to collaboratively provide visual direction for both
software and web-based applications. The position requires a designer
who is strong in all visual aspects such as layout, color,
iconography, and form. This position also requires a designer who has
previous experience in designing interfaces for applications. The UI/
Visual Designer will work with other designers in creating a design
language for future NI web-based applications.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

* Produce design deliverables including sketches, wireframes, comps,
and visual prototypes in a deadline driven environment
* Provide visual design for user interface assets (buttons, icons,
menus, containers)
* Collaborate with other designers for consistency both within and
across products
* Creation of a design/iconography language, which can be used across
multiple products and applications
* Document design decisions, helping to build UI standards and
specifications
* Follow design concepts through to completion, evaluating visual
design throughout a product development lifecycle

Position Requirements
* 5+ years in visual design for web and/or software
* 2+ years Application UI design experience
* Experience in designing iconography and other UI assets
* Familiar with HCI and IxD principles and how visual design might
impact them
* Experience designing UI assets for RIAs
* Strong visual skills and thorough knowledge of brand identity
* Proficient in design applications such as Fireworks, Illustrator,
Photoshop, etc.

Preferred

* Experience with Silverlight and XAML
* Experience with Expression Blend
* Strong Iconography Skills
* Familiarity with both Information Technology and Engineering
concepts
