to Refresh Austin Jobs
Summary: What's this job about?

Do you have that rare breed of DNA that makes you creative, a
perfectionist, and technically savvy enough to bring your design
concepts to life? Plus, an incessant curiosity to investigate what
"really works" and use that knowledge to make your design better? As a
web designer at Spiceworks you'll do just that as you work on a
variety of projects to bring the Spiceworks brand and message to life.
You'll work with—and have a direct impact— on every department in the
company as well as have the opportunity to interact with, and seek
feedback from, our users. And you'll help craft marketing promotions
for powerhouse brands who advertise in Spiceworks like Microsoft,
Intel and Rackspace.

Called the “Facebook of IT,” Spiceworks is all the rage among more
than 1 million IT pros around the world that use our product to do
their jobs and interact with each other to simplify “everything IT.”
Top technology advertisers are clamoring to reach them by advertising
in Spiceworks and we’re transforming the way that today’s tech
products are managed, marketed and sold.

We need a highly motivated creative thinker and designer who can
thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Someone who knows
that good enough is the enemy of great. Who doesn't just simply create
"pretty designs" but who thinks through objectives and decisions to
produce successful creative solutions. Sure, no one person knows
everything, but the person who'll thrive in this role will be
confident they've got what it takes to deliver value from the get-go
and can quickly learn whatever it is they don't yet know. This isn't
just a contract position. If you have the motivation and talent, you
could design your way into becoming a full-time member of the
Spiceworks Team.

Responsibilities: What will I do?

promotional print materials, interactive ads, and more.
- Write front-end code with HTML, CSS and Javascript (JQuery).
- Maintain and update the corporate website.
- Design and implement A/B and multivariate tests using Google

This role will report to the Director of Marketing Communications.

- Inspired design skills (and a killer portfolio that showcases
them).
- Ability to hand-code valid, semantic markup (HTML and CSS).
"WYSIWYG editor" is a dirty word to you.
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe Photoshop (or Fireworks), Adobe
Illustrator and other industry software.
- An understanding of Progressive Enhancement.
- A Herculean work ethic that just doesn’t quit.
- Out-of-this-world project management skills with the ability to
multi-task & complete projects flawlessly under tight project
deadlines.
- Agility. You can think on your feet and adapt well to a quickly
changing environment.

Bonus Qualifications:

Do you bring something to the table that others don't? Here's a short
list of skills that might just put you a step above the rest:

- Experience building and testing HTML emails.
- Experience with email apps such as Litmus and Exact Target.
- A/B & multivariate testing experience.
- PHP or Javascript (particularly JQuery) skills.
