Vertical Admin Nav tabs & liquid admin layout

Hey all,
Has any consideration ever been giving to perhaps an application
setting that would allow the admin nav to be displayed vertically? Or
perhaps another application setting that would allow for the admin
area to be a liquid width layout? Both ideas seem to work pretty well
in Wordpress, so I was just curious if anyone would like/accept a
patch for something like that.

There has been some thought about a revised UI which does these things, yes :) It's a work in progress branch and a new feature for 2.2 I think however there is a branch on github called "ui" to handle this that got old..

This would be a very welcome feature.  I looked for that 'ui' project on github with little success - anyone have a link?

he means https://github.com/refinery/refinerycms/tree/ui but it's 2 years old.

hope to see a new UI branch soon, i think there can be a good community effort on this feature.
