Due to a series of unfortunate events outside her control, a friend of mine has until the middle of the month to find a new place.

She's in the US this year from France, studying for a new career path, and the leaseholders on her current place annoyed the landlord enough that he's giving all of them 30 days to vacate.

In short, she's trying to find a room somewhere
* within a reasonable train ride of midtown (~57th and 7th)
* that allows cats (she has a sweet, albeit lazy, cat)
* for under $800/month (she's on a fixed budget)
* for a short stay (4-6 months)

I can vouch for her personality, cleanliness, etc etc. She's a very good tenant, but is having a hard time right now because of all this.

If you have a room that fits this description, or know anyone who does, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Alternately, if you know of another way through this situation, mention it in a reply.

If you haven't already, check out /r/nycapartments.  I haven't searched for a place there myself, but it might serve.  And it's possible it'll be less shitty than searching Craigslist.
