SFROM A FELLOW STUDENT:
Do you feel like you’ve reached a road block? You have a desire, but you
just can’t seem to get motivated to work towards it. Perhaps you’ve come to
the conclusion that you don’t have the will power to move forward, toward
this desire. I have to tell you, it’s not just about will.

Americans love Halloween. We as a country spend over $5 billion a year
celebrating it. But where did the holiday come from? And how did traditions
like asking strangers for food and dressing up as ghosts develop?
Halloween has its roots in Samhain (pronounced sow-in), an ancient harvest
festival held at the end of the Celtic year. The festival marked the end of

'Middle Wife' by an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher
I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second grade classroom a few years back.
When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any

If asked that question, of course, many of us would
reply with a resounding “NO!” And I’d have to agree with many of them. Why?
Because many of us do not have a strong sense of our personal
responsibility.
We are taught very early that if we did not “do it”, then we are to point

 The Silence of the Stars
When Laurens van der Post one night in the Kalihari Desert told the Bushmen He couldn't hear the stars singing, they didn't believe him. They looked at him, half-smiling. They examined his face to see whether he was joking or deceiving them. Then two of those small men who plant nothing, who have almost nothing to hunt, who live on almost nothing, and with no one but themselves, led him away from the crackling thorn-scrub fire and stood with him under the night sky

Bill is heading to the Great White Frozen North on Saturday to spend a Canookian Thanksgiving with his Sweet Pooter Pie. He'll be away until the following Saturday and won't be posting any Bill's Place until after then.
We Are Family
Humanity
When it comes to our families, we sometimes see only our differences. We see the way our parents cling to ideas we don’t believe, or act in ways we try not to act. We see how practical one of our siblings is and wonder how we can be from the same gene pool. Similarly, within the human family we see how different we are from each other, in ways ranging from gender and race to geographical location and religious beliefs. It is almost as if we think we are a different species sometimes. But the truth is, in our personal families as well as the human family, we really are the same.
