Anybody have any luck installing the WordPress plugin with WordPress
2.2?

I activated the plugin, but the patch was unsuccessful. I updated the
comments.php file manually as described on the reCAPTCHA web site. The
reCAPTCHA shows up on my blog pages, and it seems to work when I test
it (both by successfully entering the CAPTCHA and purposely failing to
do so).

But I am still getting a lot of comment spam in moderation! Am I
missing something? I would expect the non-human spambots to be stopped
at the reCAPTCHA gates. Right?

Thanks in advance.

Hi John,

Could you send us your comments.php and the URL to your WordPress install?  We will look into it asap.

Thanks.

It looks like you might have pingbacks still enabled. You might want to disable pingbacks & trackbacks or look in to a verification plugin for them (such as http://sw-guide.de/wordpress/plugins/simple-trackback-validation/)

Thanks for the quick response.

reCAPTCHA is working perfectly with WordPress 2.2. My ongoing headache
with comment spam does indeed seem to be due to pingbacks and
trackbacks. I am trying out the simple trackback validation plugin
that you referenced and so far so good.

My apologies for the unnecessary diversion.

Thanks again,
John
